Face by Abu

School: Montem Primary School
Borough: Islington
Info: 'Face' was selected from this age group because of its lively use of colourful abstract shapes creating an open structure, loosely based upon a face. Abu wanted to make a sculpture very different from the other monochrome caste monoliths in the square, creating a focus that is bright, appropriate in scale and above all fun.
Abu was inspired by the artists Miro ,Tinguely, Caro and Calder.
Abu envisioned the final sculpture to be made from painted steel panels, some welded together and others on pivots or axels to allow movement in the breeze.
Award: Borough Winner
